My name is Nicola Stewart-Smith the maker behind Nicola Mary. I live and work in my home studio on the Somerset, Devon border.
Nicola Mary started over a decade ago and has developed and changed over the years along with my own ideas, growing technical knowledge and experience.
I create ceramics intended to be loved within your homes. They are functional and beautiful. My work is inspired by the life around me. The countryside I live in and the way of life I am lucky to lead.
Nicola Mary is very much a family owned and run small business. David, my husband and our four children between us Dora, Ross, Iona and Skye have all played their own roles within Nicola Mary.
My daughter, Dora after graduating from Bath Spa with a degree in Textiles for Fashion and Interiors and completing her Veterinary Nurse training has gone full circle and become my invaluable assistant.
Next door to my Studio is The Piggery, lovingly restored by David and Exmoor Builders. The Piggery has now been repurposed as a small shop and holds a showcase of my work available to buy.
Across the village road are our cottages, where David has also worked his magic restoring them to their current glory. We live in The Extension, No.10 and No.11 are available to stay in, to enjoy a little part of our world.
